Is it possible for this menu, the jQuery - vertical concertina, to start with all the menu items 'closed'?
And then only open when clicked on.
At the moment the top item is 'open' when you enter the page.

If you look at the source code for the page you will see the jQuery which is only a few lines long.

The first action is:
/* open first list item */
animate (fY)

Just remove this to start with all items closed.

On closer inspection I see that you have already made a menu that does this, the jquery vertical slide#1 menu.

I guess the only difference between the two menus is the styling is it?

Although, I can't imagine what the desired benefit would be to leave the "dropline" open (?).

This method was produced for a client as a version of dropline #3. If you want to close the dropline then hover over a top level without a dropline arrow. Or check menu #3 which closes all submenus.

ul #slide's border:1px solid #888 property does not display. Everything else works great!
